You can now contribute to the defence and restoration of 439 Powell now! You can donate by clicking this link via Paypal or make a contribution at any VanCity branch under the account, “the Friends of 439 Powell”

All contributions will go to the defence and restoration of the Ming Sun building located at 439 Powell and, if any surpluses exist, to assist in the operations of the restored building.

Write to Vancouver Mayor and Council requesting that they repair and restore the damage to 439 Powell Street caused and precipitated by their actions. Send your emails to mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca

Sign the petition! We are requesting that Vancouver City Council direct its staff to restore and repair an important low-income affordable housing, affordable artist space, and historic space on Powell Street to the state of habitability and usability prior to the City’s actions on July 2013.

This building was very well maintained. On July 30, 2013, the Chief Building Official, Mr Will Johnston remarked,

“the (439 Powell St) building had passed every SRO inspection for years, and has an impeccable and most impressive maintenance record!”

  1. I have lived in this great building. I live in the dtes and as a native man, I can claim that the chinese owners were kind, fair and responsible. 439 is a very clean and solid building. Thank you to the chinese society for giving me a roof to shelter.
